Resources for landowners

Private landowner participation is vital to the successful restoration of the North Shore Forest.  Several organizational members of the North Shore Forest Collaborative have resources to help private landowners with restoration of their woodlands.  Opportunities may vary throughout the year. The following is a list of agencies or organizations with opportunities for landowners.

Cook County Invasive Team (CCIT) - Provides invasive plant and animal control workshops and trainings throughout the year. Website has information about invasives along the North Shore. Visit Cook County Invasive Team website for more information.

Cook County Soil and Water Conservation District - Encourage local conservation efforts by providing educational, technical, and financial assistance for local land users.

Lake County Soil and Water Conservation District - Provides technical assistance to help property owners and local units of government implement sound land management planning to protect the natural resources of Lake County. 

Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) - Provides assistance for landowners to receive plans for restoration of their woodlands through their Conservation Activity Plans (CAP). Sugarloaf: The North Shore Stewardship Association - A non profit established to inspire the preservation and restoration of the North Shore through education and exemplary stewardship. Sugarloaf offers landowner workshops, community forest restoration shed. Sign up for email updates and download publications and videos about North Shore forest restoration from their website.
